This article is a summary of CivGeneral's involvement in DRAW Your Own Story 10.5.

The Troubles

Returning to Earth following the Battle of Arrakis at the end of DYOS X, CivGeneral found planetside communications downed and Mr. Toyoda missing.[1] Landing in Philadelphia, the party met Bill Overbeck, who explained the Gargantua and suggested they could find working radios in Newark.[2][3] Reaching Newark Airport, the group fought through a zombie horde, after which Samus Aran declared her love for CG. CivGeneral gave Samus his ID card, effectively naming her successor in all his offices.[4] Recovering a working radio, CivGeneral contacted Major Sasaki who disclosed Toyoda was missing in action.[5] Following Sasaki's advice, the group travelled to Syracuse, New York and met with Tsuyoshi Sadao, commander of a local outpost.[6] CG and Co. helped fend off a raider attack,[7][8][9] after which Sadao forewarned of the Enclave.[10]

Travelling across the United States, the party was ambushed outside Las Vegas by Enclave operatives CG-X and SA-X and taken to headquarters.[11] The group quickly broke out of containment but was confronted by Dr. Breen and the X-clones;[12] Breen confided in CivGeneral that he suspected the new Combine premier Brezhnev would turn on his allies, and offered to ally with Coruscant, hinting that there was more to Toyoda and the Gem than anyone understood. CivGeneral refused, and a disheartened Breen left the X-clones to finish him off; CG-X challenged CG to "fight like men" and ditch his power armor, only to keep his on and beat him to a pulp. As a Coruscanti commando squad burst in, SA-X infected him with the X-parasite before the clones fled; CivGeneral was evacuated for medical treatment and was ultimately saved by a blood transfusion from Samus. During recovery, he was visited by Chozo spirits who told him he and Samus were the Defenders of the Universe.[13] By the time he recovered, the main Coruscanti offensive had caught up. CivGeneral wedded Samus in a double ceremony alongside SpongeBob and Sandy, and the group joined the Battle of Los Angeles.[14]

War in Europe

With the Enclave evicted from the continental US, CivGeneral rebased to Britain in advance of a Space Nazi invasion, joining the fighter squadrons in the air battle.[15] Concurrent with the assassination of Chancellor Roster on March 15, SA-X attempted to kill CivGeneral in London, but was foiled and taken captive.[16] CivGeneral appointed Motoko Kusanagi acting Chancellor of Coruscant, even though she was leading frontline forces in the Pacific theatre, and assumed responsibility for Coruscant's signature to the Anglo–Coruscant–Union Treaty.[17]

Upon learning the Enclave had invaded Japan, CG moved the timetable forward for the Allied invasion of Normandy.[18] CG and Co. participated in the initial beachhead, and travelling inland found the corpse of Bill Overbeck; they buried him the same day.[19] By now, real life issues were filtring into CivGeneral's comics and he began to exhibit depressive symptoms; in an aborted bid to retcon Jill Valentine in place of Samus, he suffered a nightmare in which his main villains caught him and murdered his friends and family.[20] Samus was critically wounded in a subsequent skirmish and CivGeneral taken prisoner alongside an emergent Jill, but both were broken out by Free Western forces.[21] Unable to revive a comatose Samus, CG slipped further into despair, and she was evacuated to New Port City.[22]

Some time after the battle, CivGeneral founded the Brotherhood of Steel in collaboration with Kusanagi as an autonomous military order under his personal command.[23] He was reunited with his cousin Marsha Conrad, who had enlisted as a volunteer during the Battle of Washington, D.C. and was on assignment for Kusanagi. He led a raid on Harburg, Bavaria to sabotage a Space Nazi landing facility and steal garrisoned equipment, providing Marsha cover to infiltrate the German interior.[24] During the raid CG re-encountered Francis Durga, a disgruntled officer that had turned coat over personal grievances with the Eastern Union; Durga forewarned that elements within Coruscant were conspiring against CivGeneral's internationalist leanings. Durga fled before CG could kill him, and escaped the base's destruction.[25]

Following the mission, CivGeneral confided to Jill his anxieties with Coruscanti nationalism, saying high command was pressuring him for immediate assault toward Berlin in disregard of the actual ground situation and intra-alliance coordination. He dismissed Jill's suggestion to run for office, but revealed Kusanagi's appointment was in part a means to exert his will within the Senate.[26] Later that season the Space Nazis launched a fresh salient on the French border;[27] CG and Co. were evacuated from their forward base by a recovered Samus, who revealed she had survived an assassination attempt by the Central Intelligence Agency and that Johnson was plotting to purge the internationalist faction.[28][29]
