ReBoot is a Canadian television series produced by Mainframe Entertainment (now Rainmaker Animation) and was the first full-length CGI television series. Although the series was cancelled after a cliffhanger ending to season 4 in 2001, plans are underway to revive it. As its name suggests, ReBoot is set inside the world of a computer system, and makes abundant reference to computer technology.

Reboot (combat operandi)

A constant struggle for the denizens of Mainframe is the arrival of purple Game Cubes, inputted by the User. In order to better their chance of winning, the protagonists "reboot" by double-clicking their icons to assume the roles of in-game characters.

Fun facts

  • In season four, the chief antagonist was a supervirus named Daemon who spoke in a strong French accent; further proof that the French are evil.
  • Ghetty Prime, one of Mainframe's city sectors and Megabyte's base of operations, is both a reference to the Unix program getty, and the Harkonnen homeworld Geidi Prime from Frank Herbert's Dune.
    • This brings the total number of parties who have made intentional reference to Dune to 3: Thorvald of Lym and lord_joakim being the other two.
