Franklin Delano Roosevelt, or FDR, or That Man, was President of the United States of America from 1933 to 1945, and is generally credited with rescuing America from the Great Depression, instituting or influencing wide-ranging political, economic and social reforms, winning the Second World War, saving the world and helping to establish the United Nations, and really just general awesomeness. Did I mention he was paralyzed by polio, and through sheer will and determination partly recovered his ability to walk and swim?
These days he's remembered as either as a champion of democracy and a brilliantly successful statesman, or that cripple liberal bastard who brought socialism to America. Whatever the case, the next generation will learn about him through Civilization IV, where he is represented among his old World War II rivals colleagues such as Churchill, De Gaulle, and Stalin.
