The Sydney hacking occurred on 22 November 2009 when Pul Wat Aa "cracked reality", destroying the central business district of Sydney, Australia. [1] The attack was unprecedented even for the Hacker, with the area literally fading from existence and the fate of its 177,000 citizens thrown into jeopardy; fortunately for the world, no further hack of comparable scale followed.
Eastern Union intelligence officer Octavia Deaconescu studied the attack and believed Sydney could be recovered through a counter-hack.[2] On 14 September 2012 a massive operation began to break Pul Wat Aa's encryption and reverse the hack, successfully restoring Sydney and leading to further deconstruction of the Hacker's network.[3]
