The Z-95 Headhunter was a starfighter designed jointly by the Incom and Subpro Corporations years before the Invasion of Naboo. Its resilience and longevity meant it remained a staple of private and low-priority government starfighter forces long after its introduction.
The Z-95 was the precursor to the T-65 X-wing, and both designs share many similarities; so much so that at first glance the two ships can easily be mistaken. Later modifications would even equip Headhunters with the same trademark S-foil configuration as the X-wing.
Although outclassed by the X-wing, frequent modifications and a history of reliability make the Z-95 a viable and popular fighter for third parties. The Republic of Coruscant maintains the Z-95 as an air force reserve, and Headhunters served as the primary starfighter force of the Loyalists during the Avatar Wars.
